Peterborough Arts Cinema

Films that make you think

About us:

The Peterborough Arts Cinema is an independent cinema dedicated to bringing non-mainstream films to film lovers in Peterborough. It is run by a committed group of volunteers on a non-profit making basis. The cinema started out as the Peterborough Film Society in April 1947 with a presentation of "Man of Aran", a 1934 fictional documentary about life on the Aran islands of Ireland, written and directed by Robert J. Flaherty.

Over it's lifetime the cinema has screened films in a number of venues but our principal current venue, the John Clare Theatre, is situated on the first floor of Peterborough Central Library. See our venue page for further details.
