About us:

The Peterborough Arts Cinema is an independent cinema run on a non-profit basis by a committed group of volunteers known as the Peterborough Film Society .

The society has been bringing quality cinema to locations across Peterborough for over 70 years. Brief highlights of some of the important moments in our history and some of the great films we have shown can be found  here . We screen recently released films from the UK and around the world. Many of our presentations will have had a limited initial release and therefore we offer the opportunity to see great films on the big screen that won't have been shown in multiplex cinemas.

The films for each season are chosen by a member's vote based on a selection of the best, most innovative or most inspiring of the recent releases. The selections include films by highly regarded directors or featuring outstanding actors. Come along and see for yourselves. Our aim is to show films that inform, challenge and certainly entertain. We guarantee they will spark thought and debate.

Tickets are available on the door from 7.10 pm. With audiences usually numbering around 60, there will be plenty of room for you in the comfortable and friendly John Clare Theatre, Peterborough Central Library.

Tea, coffee and other light refreshments are available before the screening and afterwards we chat about the film over drinks at The Ostrich, a pleasant little pub around the corner from the John Clare.

If you become a member there are big savings on ticket prices and also three free bonus films a year for you to enjoy. Screenings are on Thursday evenings in three 12 week seasons a year: January to March, April to July and September to December.
